The Lucky Lady: FranShon Reid, 26, Brand Manager from Owings Mills, MD
The Lucky Man: Willie Barnes, 27, Pastor from Daytona Beach, FL
HOW WE MET: Fran and Will met Sunday, October 18th, 2009 at the Black Church at Yale (BCAY) in New Haven, CT. Will wasserving as the Armor Bearer to Fran’s Father, Dr. Frank M. Reid, III and she attended the event to support him. When Dr. Reid asked his daughter to stand up, to introduce her to the congregation, Will knew immediately he wanted to get to know her better. They kept in touch via Facebook, but nothing really came of their conversations. 7 months latter Will arrived at the steps of Bethel A.M.E Church to intern under her Dr. Reid , and that is where God allowed their Love for one another to really began.
HOW THEY DISCOVERED THEIR LOVE:
Will: I loved Fran before I met her. Years before I met her the Lord revealed to me the importance of courting and God ordained relationships. One night I wrote a list with all of the future qualities I wanted my wife to have and placed it in my bible. Although I would read my bible often I had forgotten about the list. Years later when I opened my bible I stumbled across the list and Fran was everything I had asked God for. (Genesis 2:23).
Fran: I feel the same way! Being at Bethel strengthened our love for one another, but the love was always there. Every aspect of my life became better, the moment he stepped into it.
HOW HE PROPOSED: After Will’s ordination service on September 26th, 2014, he asked me a question I will never forget. He said, “There is something I have been wanting to do for a very long time, and I don’t want to do it without you. Will you go with me?” I said, “Yes.” Within a moments notice, Will and I pulled up to this beautiful Helicopter Pad in Orlando, FL. Moments later we took flight. For the next 20 minutes we had some of Orlando’s most gorgeous sights moving rapidly underneath our feet. I was so overwhelmed by Will’s new found since of adventure and love for me that I was trying to catch my breath the whole time! He was nervous that I would see the crowd forming at the pad, but I was to busy trying to capture the ride to show my mom. At the end of the trip as we approached the landing pad, and I saw a crowd of people waving. As we got closer, I recognized it was our friends and family holding a banner that read, “WILL YOU MARRY ME?” with a collage of photos from our courtship over the years. Talk about a moment that takes your breath away.
This match made in heaven are to be wed November 22, 2014 in Baltimore, MD.
