It's Bridal Fashion Week!! I had the honor of having a brief chat with Mark Badgley of Badgley Mischka (yes I swooned) about how he does what he so fabulously does.  I am always excited for the arrival of Bridal Market. The dresses, the shoes, and the shows, oh my. However it is not only a chance to be wowed by next seasons designs, it is an opportunity to ask the designers about what keeps them creating and conquering in their field.

Here is what he had to say.

BT: You continuously design and innovate gorgeous gowns, what keeps you motivated?

MB:You know it’s a fun industry and the fact is that the most frustrating part of it is that you  are constantly starting over. There is always next season and you start thinking oh my God, but then the creative juices start kicking in, you get into it and it’s unique in that you can constantly start fresh over and over again.

Sometimes you wish that you didn’t have to, that you can just kick back for awhile. But I think that’s the most interesting thing about it, it’s very gratifying because the creativity goes on and on and on. There's always something that inspires whether it’s a friend that’s getting married or a vintage movie that James and I have just seen or fabric that excites us. It just always starts with something.

I admit it. I came away encouraged. Mark summed up quite eloquently the design process for all creatives. I will remember his inspiring words as we begin to design our next issue and know that there will be inspiration.

Stay tuned for Badgley Mischka 2016 dress collection from Bridal Fashion Week.
